Japanese noodle bar Daikoku Ramen opens today (Friday) at Gloucester Food Dock.
This Japanese noodle bar is the newest addition to the vibrant community of independent food and drink businesses at Gloucester Food Dock, adding the fresh taste of Japan to the mix.

It was announced in June that the business run by wife and husband team Mixuki and Hugo would be opening at the location.

Daikoku Ramen derive their name from the Japanese god Daikokuten, the deity of luck and the guardian of farmers who travelled across Asia sharing good luck and prosperity.
Much like the legend of Daikokuten, Hugo and Mixuki aim to share their passion for authentic Japanese cuisine across Gloucestershire.
With a menu of delicious and vibrant flavour combinations featuring a menu of various ramen bowls, gyoza and rice bowls, all crafted using ingredients sourced locally and from Japan, the dishes promise an authentic tasting experience.
Although ramen is generally thought of as purely Japanese, the dish originates in China, evolving into the dish it is today through 19th Century Japan. It is a dish made by putting thin wheat flour noodles in hot soup and enjoying them with toppings such as boiled eggs and char siu.
Taught by her father, a professor of handmade noodles, Mixuki has developed a vegan ramen, a dish not to be missed!

Ken Elliott, co-founder of Gloucester Food Dock, said: "Daikoku will the first of our Asian concepts to open and, as with the other offers at the Food Dock, in Mixuki and Hugo we've found individuals
who are passionate about their food; they produce authentic ramen made traditionally and customers will really notice the difference."

Whether you choose to sit inside and watch your meal being prepared or enjoy the scenic waterfront views from the deck, Daikoku Ramen offers both dine-in and takeaway options, conveniently located near the central staircase and accessible lift.
