Further arrest in All Saints Road stabbing investigation

A third man has been arrested in connection with a fight that resulted in one man suffering a serious hand injury in Gloucester earlier this week.

Armed officers made the arrest in the same street the attack happened - All Saints Road - at around 11.10am on Thursday (April 18).

The man, in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody at this time.

It follows an incident on Tuesday (April 16) in which officers received a report of a fight involving a group of men.

One of the men was taken to hospital for stab wounds to the hand and has subsequently been discharged, although he will need continued treatment for his injuries.

Two men in their 20s were initially arrested in connection with the incident and have now been charged with offences.

A 26-year-old Gloucester man has been charged with violent disorder, possession of an air weapon, possession of a bladed article, two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and acquiring/using/possessing criminal property.

A 28-year-old man of no fixed abode has been charged with violent disorder and possession of a bladed article.

Both were remanded in police custody and will appear at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on Thursday (April 18).

Officers say that currently it is not believed that this incident is linked to the assault in Worcester Street on Wednesday night (April 17).

Inspector Nick Cook said: "We're aware there have been several very visible violent incidents, as well as police activity, in this community this week.

"There will be an increased presence of neighbourhood officers patrolling the Barton and Tredworth area over the next few days and I would ask anyone with concerns to engage with those officers.

"I know many people will have been impacted by what they have seen and I would direct those residents to the Be Well website - www.bewellglos.org.uk/ - which has a full directory of mental health support resources available in the county."

Anyone who has not yet spoken to police and has any information or footage of what happened is asked to provide this to police by completing the online form and quoting incident 198 of April 16.
