Home improvement giant, Wickes, is offering managers a four-day working week.

The retailer, which has stores in Cheltenham, Gloucester and Cirencester, said managers now have the option of working four longer days or using their hours across the week to better suit their own work-life balance.

Following a successful six-month trial in 14 stores, Wickes has now rolled out the policy across 230 stores nationwide, as reported by Retail Gazette.

After the trial, the retailer found offering greater flexibility for managers had no negative impact on store KPIs.

It also found that 96.5% of store managers taking part in the trial were either satisfied or very satisfied with their working hours, a big increase from 66.5% before the pilot.

Wickes said it wants to allow staff to achieve a healthy work-life balance, which in turn helps to reduce turnover, and attract and retain diverse talent.

Earlier this week, Asda announced it was trialling a four-day week for managers to assist with staff retention.
