Handy for lunch: bid for offices in Cotswold town

The former service yard at Stroud's Five Valleys Shopping Centre will play host to a bold new office block if planners sign off new revisions to an earlier scheme.

The 99 square metre building has seen work effectively commence already, but Dransfield Properties are seeking changes to the proposals now submitted to Stroud District Council.

In a Design and Access statement, the updated proposal for the site is part retrospective, given that it requests office space to replace the provision of three mews houses which were permitted as part of the original permission in 2018.

The developer said: "The design concept behind the scheme is to reflect the character and appearance of Stroud Town Centre."

Worcestershire-based agents, Planning Prospects Ltd, say that 12 jobs would be created by the proposed building which would be visible from the King's Street entrance to the shopping centre and is close to F Hinds jewellery outlet.

If the changes are permitted, the work, which is already under way, is expected to be complete by April 2024.
