What's On: Catch a drive-in movie at Classic Vehicle Festival

Where: Tewkesbury School, Ashchurch Road

When: Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20, 2017

An American-style drive-in movie experience has been added to the line-up of this weekend's Tewkesbury Classic Vehicle Festival.

Pitch up on Saturday night for classic 1978 film Grease which will be screened at 8pm at Tewkesbury School. Gates open at 6pm and there will be hamburger and hot dog stands. Tickets cost £10 in advance or on the gate.

Earlier in the day, a cavalcade of classic cars will run through Tewkesbury at 11am including Ferraris, E types, MG's Bentleys, Jaguars, Morrises and Rovers.

On Sunday, the gates open for Tewkesbury Classic Vehicle Festival which is expecting a large turnout of classics and sports cars from all eras. Last year it topped 700 including more than 100 beautiful vintage bikes.

The Midland Air Ambulance will be using the event as their base for the day and will be on-hand to show the aircraft to visitors.

A large number of trade stands will surround the exhibit cars and bikes selling everything from jewellery, photographs, clothes and garden furniture to cakes and jam. The auto-jumblers will be turning out for those looking for hard-to-find spares.

Food, drink and ice-cream will be available all day, as well as a Helter skelter for young ones. There will also be live music from two bands and the Rotary ladies will be doing teas.

The grand opening is at 11am on Sunday with Miss Cheltenham runner-up Beth Foster, who is an ambassador for the festival's top charity, Midlands Air Ambulance, who will cut the ribbon assisted by Whizzo Williams, the famous Worcestershire Racing Driver.

Entry to the show on Sunday is £5 which includes free parking and free entry for under-12s and classic vehicle drivers. It will be open from 11am to 4pm.
