Gloucestershire charity appoints new CEO

Gloucestershire-based charity TIC+ (formerly Teens in Crisis) has announced the appointment of Claire Power-Browne as its new chief executive officer.

Currently director of operations, she has been promoted by the board and her new role will become effective from August 1.

Claire joined the team at TIC+ in 2017 with a background in both the commercial and voluntary sector and has co-led the charity with Judith Bell, chief clinical officer, for the last six years. During this time, the charity's income has grown significantly from £670,000 to an anticipated £3 million turnover in 2024.

She takes the helm at a time of strong growth and pivotal change with the restructuring of the organisation to position it for the future.

Over the last five years, referrals to TIC+ have increased by 64% with the charity now supporting more than 3,500 young people through its mobile team of 90+ counsellors.

TIC+ offers crucial support services, including free counselling, InTER-ACT online workshops, tic+chat a confidential, an anonymous support phone line, text chat, live chat, and parent support groups.

TIC+ has also established a training arm equipping the future workforce with professional counselling qualifications Level 2 to Level 5 accredited by CPCAB.

John Hubbard, chair of trustees at TIC+, said: "Claire has already made a very significant contribution to TIC+ including over the COVID-19 crisis, to ensure our services remained open to young people when they were isolated, growing the operations team to keep up with demand and launching the first live impact dashboard for a mental health charity.

"Claire's strong track record as a leader, together with her solid corporate experience across operations, make it a natural evolution for her to become CEO. The board of trustees are delighted by this appointment, and we are excited for her to lead us to the next level."

Claire Power-Browne said: "I am thrilled to be given this opportunity at such an exciting time of growth and expansion. It has been an absolute joy and privilege to co-lead with Judith Bell for so many years and I am enormously thankful that she remains a key part of the senior executive team to help ensure the quality, innovation and care for which TIC+ is known stays at the heart of our work.

"With our 30-year anniversary coming up, we have firmly established TIC+ as an essential support for young people struggling with their mental health in Gloucestershire, and one which we want to grow further.

"I'm excited by our ambitious plans and the opportunity to continue working with our fantastic team toward making our new five-year strategy a reality."
