VIDEO: Rugby legends team up again for superb evening

The Pride of Lions 1997 Reunited Dinner organised by Aitch and Aitch Bee Events and sponsored by Punchline-Gloucester.com proved a roaring success last night.

Rugby legends Neil Jenkins, John Bentley, Paul Wallace and Doddie Weir entertained their 180 guests at the Hatherley Manor Hotel with their memories of the successful tour of South Africa.

The quartet provided a superb insight into life on tour, the goings-on behind the scenes and the hard-fought matches against the giant Springboks, with the Lions ultimately winning the series by two games to one.

The fascinating evening also included a three-course meal and a raffle and auction in support of the charity Footsteps 4 Finlay.

Mark Owen, editor of Punchline-Gloucester.com and MD of its publishers Moose Marketing and PR, said the evening more than lived up to expectations.

"We're extremely proud to have sponsored such a fantastic event," he said. "The four guys were absolutely brilliant and it was an absolute pleasure to spend some time in their company.

"As always, Helen and Mark from Aitch and Aitch Bee Events were great hosts and Hatherley Manor provided a first-class venue.

"Now let's hope the 2017 class of Lions going to New Zealand Africa this summer can come back victorious too!"
