Owners of Gloucester Quays shopping centre have said there are no plans to put it up for sale.

Peel Retail & Leisure has scotched reports it was getting ready to put the retail asset on the market.

It said instead it was focusing on celebrating the Quay's 15th anniversary , which officially falls on May 30.

The centre was opened in 2009 and, despite a shaky start, over the last decade and a half has gone from strength to strength, helping to regenerate the Gloucester waterfront area.

Today it has around 51 stores and 16 places to eat and drink.

This week plans to capitalise on the area's development and sell off the last piece of the Quays were announced.

Gloucester-based Numold is moving out of its canalside property  in Merchants' Road after 30 years and is looking for a buyer.

The building, on a 0.5 acre site, is a prime development location next to several restaurants.

Whoever buys it will benefit from Gloucester Quays growing customer base.

Earlier this week Peel revealed the centre had generated an 11% rise in sales between April 2023 to March 2024 with footfall increasing 7%.

And has confirmed it plans to hang on to the successful asset for now.

In November React News reported Peel was getting ready to put the centre back on the market for £85m  with Cushman & Wakefield.

A source also confirmed to Punchline-Gloucester.com that the sale would be going ahead.

It came after a failed attempt to sell the Quays in 2021 for a £105million price tag

This week Peel Retail & Leisure said in a statement: Gloucester Quays continues to go from strength to strength, following record performance and some exciting recent additions, with more to come.

"There are no plans at present to market the outlet, and our attention is firmly on celebrating 15 years of its success under Peel ownership."
