Funding for building improvements is welcomed

A decision to award funding to three Gloucester schools has been applauded by the city's MP Richard Graham.
The High School for Girls, Beaufort Co-operative Academy and Ribston Hall High School will benefit from help from the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) to improve school buildings and infrastructure, with work on their roofs as a priority for Beaufort and Ribston.
Mr Graham (pictured) had particularly supported the High School for Girls bid, which focused on improved security and better school gates for safeguarding of pupils.
He said: "The Chancellor pledged to invest over £10billion in school conditions during this Parliament, and the improvements at three of our secondary schools highlight that the government is both taking care of existing schools while providing capital for new ones, like the proposed first ever primary in Podsmead, which I strongly support."
Beaufort principal David Bishop said: "Our Academies Trust and Beaufort Academy welcome the funding from the Conditions Improvement Fund to further upgrade and improve the academy infrastructure. Beaufort is growing rapidly in popularity and size.
"This grant, along with an additional £4million expansion project, will ensure that the facilities match the ambition and ability of the students and staff at Beaufort."
The CIF received requests for more than £1.3billion for over 3800 projects to this year's round.
The final funding amounts have yet to be decided but the three schools have applied for nearly £900,000 between them.
