Council tax refund scam

Gloucestershire business owners have today been warned about a Council Tax scam.

The warning follows a call to a Cotswolds resident. The caller claimed to work for Cotswold District Council. He told the resident he was due to receive a £6,000 council tax refund because his Council Tax banding has been too high in the past.

Residents and businesses are being warned not to enter into any discussions with the caller and particularly not to disclose any personal information or banking details.

The telephone number of the bogus company is 03332 123132.

The police are aware of the scam.
