Argos to close 100 stores

Argos is set to close 100 stores in the UK over the next year.
High street stores are being replaced by concessions inside owner Sainsbury's, as reported by Retail Gazette.
Here in Gloucestershire, we already have Argos inside Sainsbury's in both Gloucester branches, as well as Cheltenham, Stroud and Dursley. Only Cirencester still has a standalone store in the county. It is not yet clear whether Cirencester is among those set to close.
The closures will begin next month, with Cardiff and Newport among the first to go, as reported by Retail Gazette.
The plans aim to "make shopping more convenient for customers" allowing them to "buy thousands of tech products, home appliances and toys from Argos" while doing their weekly shop.
Following this latest round of closures, Argos will have around 180 standalone stores.
By next year, the retailer plans to have around 430 to 460 counters within Sainsbury's supermarkets. This includes click and collect counters in smaller stores, as well as the full concessions in larger Sainsbury's branches.
Argos has already closed 37 stores this year, including all 34 of its branches in Ireland.
Sainsbury's also owns Habitat and is closing all standalone Habitat branches.
The supermarket giant is set to close two Argos depots over the next three years, putting 1,400 jobs at risk.
