University of Gloucestershire summer residentials

University of Gloucestershire is offering summer residentials for students in years 10 and 12.

Applications for 2024 residentials are now open.

Residentials are a chance to meet other students from across the country, live and sleep on-site in halls of residence, try subject tasters in the university's industry-standard facilities, take part in social activities and speak to current students about life at UoG.

The year 10 residential takes place from July 16 to 19 and the year 12 residential takes place from July 24 to 26.

The main base will be at Park Campus in Cheltenham, although students may travel to the other campuses on a free coach.

As part of the summer residentials, students will be provided with meals and accommodation (in individual rooms with their own bathroom).

Year 12s will get to take part in three or four subject workshops, pick up tips from the university's support team, have plenty of time to relax with their new mates, and even go bowling one evening in town.

The programme changes every year, but a typical first day might start by checking in and meeting other students over icebreakers and lunch. They will then head off for their first 90-minute subject workshop where, depending on the strand they have chosen in their application, they might be using a VR headset in digital media, debating a case in the law court or learning how to dust for fingerprints in the crime house.

There will be free time to spend in the gaming zone, the sports courts or the students' union lounge, before some friendly competition in teams with flatmates in the quiz.

Details of the year 10 residential haven't yet been finalised.

To apply for a place, search summer residentials on the University of Gloucestershire website. Students will fill out a short application form with their details and explain why they would like to take part.

If they are in year 12, they will also need to choose the subject strand they would like to do.

A travel bursary of up to £50 is available to help with the cost of transport to and from the university.
