A University of Gloucestershire student has been shortlisted for a prestigious industry award celebrating the best of the next generation of nurses.
Lianne Hudson from Gloucester, who is studying for the University's BSc (Hons) nursing (adult) degree within the university's School of Health and Social Care, is among the finalists for the Student Nursing Times Awards 2022.
As well as highlighting excellence in all specialities of student nursing, the awards provide an opportunity to congratulate the lecturers, practice supervisors, universities, trusts and private organisations providing the best support for student nurses during their studies.
Lianne has been shortlisted for the Student Innovation in Practice category. This recognises students who have made an exceptional contribution to their placement by inspiring, leading or carrying out an innovative project that improves patient or service user care, experience or outcomes; helps support the wellbeing of staff so they are better enabled to provide high quality care; or improves the effectiveness or efficiency of service delivery.
Lianne gave a live presentation entitled Shared Decision Making: the key to improving patient outcomes to a judging panel made up of education leaders and previous winners.
Nikki Buck, senior lecturer in nursing at the university, said: "We're absolutely thrilled that Lianne has been shortlisted for the Student Nursing Times Awards 2022.
"Lianne's innovative project highlights her desire and determination to make a valuable contribution to the nursing profession and ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
"We look forward to continuing our support for Lianne on her nursing journey and wish her all the best at the awards ceremony when the winners are announced."
The winners of the Student Nursing Times Awards 2022 will be announced at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London on Friday May 27.
