University of Gloucestershire graduate Tom Power has won a prestigious television award.
He was a key part of the team behind a BBC docu-reality series showcasing the work of police officers on the frontline.
Tom, who completed the university's degree in television production, was the producer director for production company Full Fat TV on the first series of Fresh Cops - the winner of the Royal Television Society Midlands Award 2023 for Popular Factual programme.
The BBC3 series follow three officers from Leicestershire Police as they go about their daily working lives on the beat, sharing the highs and lows of tackling crime and working in the community, as well as the camaraderie that gets them through their toughest shifts.
Tom has worked on a number of well-known TV programmes including The Great British Bake Off for the BBC, Channel 4's Hunted, and the football reality series Sunderland 'Til I Die on Netflix.
He was nominated for the 2019 British Academy Children's Awards as chosen by BAFTA for his work on BBC series Mimi on A Mission: Sex Ed.
Karen Beland, lecturer in TV production at the university, said: "We're thrilled that Tom has won the Royal Television Society Midlands Award 2023 for the Popular Factual category as part of the team behind Fresh Cops.
"Tom has enjoyed a highly successful career since graduating from the university and he is a fantastic role model for our students who have aspirations to work in television.
"We will continue to follow his career, and we look forward to him coming back to our campus, as so many successful alumni do, to inspire and advise the next generation of programme makers from University of Gloucestershire."
