Superdry partners with girls’ football team

Cheltenham-based Superdry is partnering with Gotherington Jaguars FC to celebrate women in sport.

Nicole Morrison, Superdry designer, said: "It was a privilege to have had the opportunity to design home, away and goalkeeper kits for the Gotherington Jaguars U12s football team. I've always been very passionate about encouraging the future generation to participate in sport.

"The kits were designed to help the girls feel good whilst playing."

Formed just three years ago, with only 10 players, the club is now home to more than 150 girls and 15 coaches - with the U12s taking home the top prize in the Gloucester County Girls League last season.

Wayne Morgan, Gotherington Jaguars manager, said: "We are so very fortunate to have Superdry not only support us as team sponsor, but actually invest their skills and time in designing a home and away kit that our girls adore and feel empowered in.

"At The Jaguars, our number one goal, ahead of winning, is to provide a platform for girls to get involved in football, not just with us, but across the whole of Gloucestershire. We want more clubs to start girls' football."

The message this partnership promotes is an important one to Superdry - to champion young women changing the face of sport.

Eight of the club's players have been selected for the Gloucestershire Emerging Talent Centre (ETC), where they will be trained by professional coaches for an entire season. The ETC is funded by the Premier League and operated by Forest Green Rovers FC, which have just signed four of the club's under-12s players.
