Formal qualification in repair and maintenance of traditional properties

CarringtonLIME Heritage Skills Training is offering a Level 3 course for heritage property professionals next month.
There are very few formal qualifications for tradespeople working in the field of repair and maintenance of traditional buildings. Traditional skills are often gained onsite and through trial and error.
Gloucestershire-based CarringtonLIME Heritage Skills Training is one of the few training organisations in the UK offering recognised qualifications in heritage skills.
With the help and a generous donation from The Friends of the Cotswolds, it is offering a three-day Level 3 award in repair and maintenance of traditional buildings.
The course will be held at The Old Prison in Northleach on October 2-4.
It will include both theoretical and practical lessons, with the prison as a case study.
Tradespeople, building heritage professionals and anyone who manages a heritage building will be able to apply for a funded place.
Kate Kerslake, director of CarringtonLIME, said: "It's really important to ensure that those working on and managing our built heritage have a solid understanding of why society seeks to save these historic buildings, as well as the processes involved in maintaining, restoring and developing them.
"We are so excited to be able to offer subsidised places on this course. It means that it is accessible to everyone."
