E G Carter commits to the future with new apprentices

Gloucester-based E G Carter & Co Ltd has taken on a record number of new apprentices this year.

This September, the construction company has taken on three carpentry apprentices and six management trainees. For the last 20 years, it has averaged two apprentices and one management trainee every year.

Many of the company's senior managers, contracts managers, project managers, senior surveyors and site managers began their career journey with E G Carter as an apprentice or management trainee.

Costner Lane, 23, will go down the route of an assistant surveyor. Costner already has his HNC and will be furthering his industry knowledge by completing a degree in quantity surveying and commercial management.

He said: "I am looking forward to continuing my construction journey. I feel that my degree will help me gain more theoretical knowledge, which will then go hand in hand with the practical aspect that I will learn while mentoring other quantity surveyors out on site."

Joshua Carter, director, said "We are excited to welcome the new starters to our company and industry. This is a great milestone for E G Carter & Co Ltd and illustrates the strength of our forward order book and confidence in our long-established team to be able to provide the training and opportunities for our new apprentices and management trainees.

"We are looking forward to welcoming the new apprentices and management trainees on their journey with E G Carter & Co Ltd."

E G Carter is committed to attending and supporting numerous career and employment fairs across Gloucestershire. The events give an opportunity for school and university leavers to express interest in the company's various trainee schemes.
