T-level students meet minister

On results day 2023, a group of T-level students from Cirencester College celebrated their outstanding grades with a visit to UCAS in Cheltenham.

There, the students met a government minister and other national dignitaries.

2023 marked the second ever results day for T-level students across the country. Cirencester College, one of the first institutions to pioneer the new qualifications, celebrated 45 students achieving merit grades and 15 students achieving a distinction.

After receiving their grades, seven very happy T-level students visited UCAS for their results day reception, attended by Robert Halfon MP, the minister for apprenticeships, FE and HE.

Robert used the meeting to find out from the students about what they most enjoyed about their T-level course, what advice they would give to prospective students, what they're moving on to do next and what they would change about the course if they could.

The students also had the opportunity to meet and celebrate their successes with other dignitaries, including Duncan Burton, deputy chief nurse at NHS England, Vivienne Stern MBE, CEO of Universities UK, senior leaders from key UCAS stakeholders and suppliers, including Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Infosys and Salesforce, and UCAS CEO Clare Marchant.

The students were accompanied by Richard Stonebridge, interim vice principal at Cirencester College.

Richard Stonebridge said: "What a day for the students, after just receiving their excellent and well-deserved results, they had the honour of being invited to UCAS to meet the minister and other important dignitaries. The students conducted themselves really well and the minister was really grateful for the positive feedback from the students."
