GCHQ seeks Russian speakers

Advanced Russian speakers are being sought by GCHQ as part of a Government recruitment drive in response to the war in Ukraine.

The Cheltenham-based security agency is seeking to recruit Russian-speaking language analysts to help combat threats such as cyber attacks and espionage, as reported by The Daily Mail.

Applicants must have Russian language skills to degree level and can expect a recruitment and vetting process which could take up to nine months.

Security services are only looking to hire British nationals, or those who hold dual British citizenship.

Successful applicants could play a leading role in developing UK policy, driving forward security investigations, identifying important information and even handling the services' agents.

Jobseekers must also have good translation skills, as well as knowledge of Russian history, politics, culture, ideology and economy.

GCHQ gathers and monitors huge amounts of intelligence from around the world.

MI5 and MI6 are also part of the recruitment driver for Russian speakers.
