Celebrations were continuing across Gloucestershire today as schools and colleges continue to release details of A-level results.

SGS Berkeley Green UTC is celebrating a fantastic set of results for year 13 students.

A large number of the year group applied to study STEM subjects at university and were successful in securing their first choice places. A further group of the year are continuing into apprenticeships and employment, with many achieving degree level apprenticeships and some of the leading companies not only in the South West of England, but across the world.

Headteacher Gareth Lister said: 'We are incredibly proud of our year 13 students. For many students this was the first year that they sat external exams due to the covid restrictions, and they have done very well. Their resilience and positive attitude has been inspiring.

"Our students are leaving us not only with brilliant qualifications, but also with the personal and professional skills they need to flourish in their future careers. If any young person would like to experience our technical curriculum in year 10 or year 12 then it is not too late to apply to us for entry this September. Our results show they will be in expert hands."

Hartpury College students are also celebrating after recording another impressive year of A-level and BTEC Level 3 results.

Students from the Gloucestershire institution achieved higher than the national A-level pass rate, as well as achieving high BTEC grades once more.

With students around the country collecting their A-level, T-Level and BTEC results, Hartpury College students achieved an overall A-level pass rate of 98.4% continuing the strong performance by A-level students seen over the last six years. This is above the 97.2% national pass rate for 2023.

BTEC diploma students, who also now take national exams as part of their course, also built on the success of previous years with a large proportion achieving a distinction grade profile and an overall 99.4% pass rate.

Claire Whitworth, deputy principal at Hartpury College, said: "I would like to congratulate all of our students and staff on their hard work, dedication, and focus over the last two years, which is reflected in the fantastic grades they have achieved.

"These results are even more of an accomplishment when you consider that this cohort of students had their GCSEs impacted by the pandemic. Each and every student should be proud of their achievements. As ever, I'd like to thank the parents and carers who provided invaluable support throughout the year to make these successes a reality.

"I wish all of our completing students the best of luck with their future employment or university ventures, whether here at Hartpury University or elsewhere.

"We believe that Hartpury provides a unique environment in which to prepare students for their next steps, both academically and with wider life skills, and I hope that we have provided a springboard for these students in their future endeavours."

As with previous years, many students have opted to progress onto a Hartpury University degree in September. Others have been accepted onto degree courses at Nottingham University, the University of Manchester, University College London, and the University of Birmingham to study subjects including Biology, Mathematics, Veterinary Medicine, and Psychology and Language Sciences. Many other students have secured full-time employment.

Students and staff at Cheltenham Bournside Sixth Form also celebrated the outstanding achievements and destinations of their Sixth Form students.

Headteacher Steve Jefferies said: "These results reflect the hard work, determination and resilience of our students. These are the students, remember, who started sixth form having never sat public exams and having endured the disruption Covid caused to teaching and learning. As can be seen by the results, these students, their teachers and the school's support staff have worked tirelessly.

"In total, 16% of our students gained an average grade of an A and an amazing 73% gained an average grade of C or higher. 99% of our university applicants have secured their place. Congratulations!"

Mr Warren, head of Sixth Form, said: "My heartfelt congratulations goes to our hard-working, talented students. I am delighted to see students gaining university and higher apprenticeships places to study a wide range of subjects ranging from accounting, design, economics, English and geology, to law, midwifery, modern languages, sociology and psychology."

Ribston Hall High School, Gloucester, is thrilled to announce its fantastic A-Level results for 2023, reaffirming the school's commitment to academic excellence and student development.

Despite the ever-evolving landscape of education, this cohort of students have once again demonstrated their resilience, determination, and outstanding academic ability.

This year's students set a new standard of success, surpassing the school's 2019 pre-pandemic results. With over 53% of A-Level students achieving A*-B grades, Ribston Hall continues to offer students a supportive environment to achieve academic excellence, but to also thrive in.

The commitment of students to their studies has translated into outstanding results, opening doors to prestigious universities and diverse career paths. 82% of students have successfully secured a university place, with other students pursuing exciting apprenticeship placements, both of which are a testament to the dedication of our students and outstanding teaching staff.

Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Cat Nicklin, expressed her delight at the students' accomplishments. "The journey of our students reflects their dedication, adaptability, and ability to perform at the highest academic levels. We take genuine pride in witnessing them not only meet but also surpass both their own and our ambitious expectations."

Alec Waters, deputy headteacher, added: "We are extremely proud of our students' outcomes, which represent significant progress from 2019. Their achievements are particularly noteworthy as these results mark the first formal public exams for our young people in the wake of the pandemic. Their performance stands as a testament to remarkable resilience and dedication."

Ribston Hall's commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals is evident through its diverse range of courses, extracurricular and leadership opportunities and pastoral support available at the school, with students heading on to a wide variety of higher education - from studying Paramedic Science, History, Biochemistry, Fashion Design to highly competitive Civil Service Apprenticeships.
