Careers in care recruitment event

A recruitment event this Sunday (October 17) will showcase the wide variety of health and social care career opportunities available in the county.

Proud to Care Live takes place at Kingsholm Stadium from 10am to 1pm. It will highlight the opportunities to work with people of all ages, including children and younger adults, who have care and support needs.

Covid-19 has shown just how important key workers are, and the county needs need new health and social care workers now more than ever.

Care workers make a real difference to someone's life, whether that's helping them to stay safe in their own home or in residential care, or by helping them with everyday activities.

More than 30 employers will be on hand to welcome visitors to the event and chat about the career opportunities available.

They will be conducting informal interviews on the day with people who are ready to discover the right care career for them.

It's a great opportunity for people who are interested in working in care to:

• Find out about the roles available across the sector

• Learn what training and development opportunities are available

• Attend workshops showcasing the variety of roles and care settings

• Seek career advice and guidance and get support to develop CVs

• Sign up to the Proud to Care jobs board to apply for jobs, build a job profile and receive job notifications

• Chat to prospective employers about the 300+ opportunities they have available, with an informal interview on the day

Cllr Kathy Williams, cabinet member for adult social care at Gloucestershire County Council, said: "If you are good with people, caring and with a desire to help others, there are rewarding, flexible jobs available in your community now.

"Working in health and social care offers job security and there are lots of opportunities to develop a career, if that is what you want to do. It's a stepping-stone to many other skilled roles.

"No experience is needed, and all training is provided. If you are looking for a career change, returning to work or just starting out, there will be a role which is perfect for you.

"Come along to Proud to Care Live and you could be making a difference to someone's life within days."

There is no need to book, people can turn up on the day. However, there is an option to register now on the Proud to Care website here, giving priority to book interviews and workshops.
