Booking open for inaugural public lectures

University of Gloucestershire has announced a series of inaugural public lectures by leading academics, featuring a wide range of impactful and innovative research and discussions on topical subjects.

Over the next few months, attendees can hear from university experts about a range of subjects, from Olympic sprinting and Victorian children's literature, to how lessons can be learned from food production and supply in Tanzania, and how research can be used for effective campaigning.

The inaugural public lectures will all take place at the university's Park Campus in Cheltenham.

The lectures are free to attend, but tickets must be booked in advance. Click on this link for more information on the events and to book a place.

  • March 9: Professor Athanassios Bissas, professor of sports and exercise technologies: #Biomechrunning: From Koroivos of Elis to Usain of Jamaica and into the Future
  • March 30: Professor Kenny Lynch, professor of development and community: Communities, development and what lessons Mwalimu and Madiba have for us in the 21st century
  • April 6: Professor Abigail Gardner, professor of cultural studies: Stories About Listening
  • April 26: Professor Julie Ingram, professor of innovation for sustainable agriculture: Unpacking the Multiple Meanings of Innovation for Sustainable Agriculture: The Who, What, How and Why
  • May 17: Professor Jane Monckton-Smith, professor of public protection: Getting into Good Trouble: Activist Research and Femicide
  • June 15: Professor Jackie Labbe, deputy vice-chancellor: Dead Victorian Children
  • July 6: Professor Jenny Hill, professor of higher education pedagogies: Landscapes of Learning: My Adventures in Higher Education
