Tewkesbury Abbey provides work experience for National Star

Two National Star students have been working in the tearoom at Tewkesbury Abbey.

Christopher and Casey have been working every week, learning catering and customer service skills to prepare them for employment or voluntary work after college.

Their duties include serving customers on the till, cleaning tables, washing and storing cutlery and welcoming guests to the tearoom.

The placement has given them both a huge boost to their confidence and helped to develop their social and communication skills, as they meet and interact with new people.

Christopher, who wants to work as a chef when he leaves National Star, said: "I like coming here because I like working with food. Especially the cake!"
