New apprenticeship designed in the Cotswolds to assist builders merchants

The Apprenticeship Management Group and the national Builders Merchants Federation have teamed up to launch a new level three apprenticeship.

The Level 3 Team Leader Supervisor apprenticeship will support people taking the initial step to becoming a manager, or who have recently been appointed to a junior management role. It will see the apprentice take on extra responsibilities, such as project management or leading a team of employees.

The new apprenticeship has been designed by the Gloucestershire-based apprenticeship company with the BMF. AMG runs its apprenticeship programme - Apprenticeship Plus.

The course, with the demands of a busy work life in mind, will be delivered virtually through tutor-led classes and workplace learning, with all resources available online.

John Henry, Apprenticeship Management Group director, said: "Those successfully completing the apprenticeship will receive the Certificate in Merchant Management.

"To be involved in creating a programme has been great for the company. Carmen Daly, who works with the BMF for us, has been fantastic in getting this over the line during lockdown. Hopefully now we can roll this out successfully."

The apprenticeship is only available in England and the course fee may be covered by the Apprenticeship Levy or Government Apprenticeship Funds.
