Students looking ahead to starting A-Level and BTEC courses next year should take a closer look at Hartpury College and the unique Hartpury Certificate.
The college is committed to students developing holistically, which is why everyone studying a Hartpury College course will complete the Hartpury Certificate as part of their studies. The certificate helps Hartpury students stand out from the crowd when applying for university or starting their career.
The Hartpury Certificate supports A-Level and BTEC diploma students to develop academic and employment expertise, alongside key life skills such as confidence, independence and resilience.
As part of the Hartpury Certificate, students are encouraged to work with the college's Innovation, Careers and Enterprise team to help explore their career options, work out their goals and make a plan to achieve them. The careers team has connections to over 2,000 employers across the globe.
A key part of the certificate is completing a work placement or work experience. Every student will complete an external work placement or work experience to help them prepare for the world of work. There are opportunities within commercial businesses on campus and connections with over 2,000 employers.
Hartpury timetables are specially designed to include dedicated time for enrichment activities. This gives students opportunities to gain experience in a new area, in preparation for their next steps.
A-Level activities could include completing a pre-veterinary qualification to support progression into a veterinary medicine or science degree, special interest clubs like debating and astronomy, as well as recreational and competitive sports.
BTEC students will have time to take part in enrichment activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh award, Enterprise, workshops for CV building and mindfulness or volunteering programmes. Volunteering at international events hosted on campus from equine and sports to UKA dog agility means students have plenty of opportunities to help boost their CVs.
Students also gain commercial experience on campus. They work work in teams as part of their studies to develop core skills in a supported environment. Learning how to manage the college's commercial farm, animal collection, livery yard and sports facilities is excellent preparation for future careers.
