Sam Hesp is 18 and a Level 3 apprentice with SGS College and Cotswold Connections in Stroud.

Sam went to Sir William Romney's School in Tetbury, where he was an A* to B grade student. He was initially planning to do A Levels at Cirencester College, but then decided he would like to do something more practical.

After GCSEs, Sam did a 12-month Level 2 introductory course and is now 18 months into his four-year Level 3 electrical apprenticeship.

He does four days a week with Cotswold Connections and one day a week in college.

Sam said: "We'll be in houses or on industrial estates. We'll be doing all sorts from metal working to putting in sockets for people in council houses."
