Apprentices and Covid-19: Update
By Sarah Wood | 25th February 2021
Following the Prime Minister's announcement on Monday (22nd February) that children will return to school on 8th March, the guidance around apprentices has also been updated.
From 8th March, apprentices will be able to attend on-site training and assessment at colleges and training centres, in addition to the onsite training which is currently permitted in workplaces.
Until 8th March, apprentices should continue to only attend workplaces if they cannot work from home and it is essential for them to be in the workplace. Where it is essential, the workplace must meet Covid-secure guidelines.
Apprentices currently studying at university will not be permitted to return on 8th March. They can only return to university if they need practical training and access to specialist equipment and facilities.
The government will review, by the end of the Easter holidays, the options for the return of remaining apprentices to university.
