Teenager accused of murder denies charge

The trial of a teenager accused of murdering a 17 year old youth at a sports ground in Cam, has been delayed until next week.

The judge, Mr Justice Chamberlain, made the decision after he was told that the prosecutor, Richard Smith QC, had tested positive for Covid-19 using a lateral flow and was awaiting the results of a PSR test.

The judge said that the best course of action was to discharge the current jury and this would be indicated to them individually instead of the having to attend in court.

The 16-year-old defendant, wearing a dark suit, listened intently to proceedings from the dock.

The defendant, who was 15 at the time of the alleged murder of Joshua Hall, who died on Saturday, April 17th 2021 following an incident at the sports ground the day before, denies the murder charge.

The court will make a final decision on when the trial begins at a second hearing later today (October 13).
