Cheltenham-based Superdry has sued Premier League champions, Manchester City, over an alleged trademark infringement.

The High Court claim relates to the football club's "Asahi Super Dry" training gear, as reported by Retail Gazette.

Last year, Manchester City revealed that beer manufacturer Asahi Super 'Dry' would feature on its men's and women's kits during the 2023-24 season.

The fashion brand has said: "the differences between Super 'Dry' and Superdry are so insignificant that they may go unnoticed by the average consumer".

It requested an "injunction to restrain" Man City from using its name, in papers lodged in London on December 15.

The allegation included images of players wearing training gear and details about how the club revealed that Super 'Dry' Asahi 0.0% would feature on garments such as long-sleeved zip tops and short-sleeved shirts.
