Furniture retailer acquires online marketplace

Online furniture retailer, Made.com, has acquired online platform Trouva to help grow its marketplace business.

Trouva is a sales platform for independent boutiques and brands, offering fashion, homeware and lifestyle products, as reported by Retail Gazette.

Trouva will continue to operate as a standalone brand, led by its current leadership team.

The acquisition of Trouva will expand the number of homeware products on Made's marketplace, giving customers more variety. In addition, Trouva's cross-border functionality will increase distribution coverage for Made's marketplace product offer.

Made's chief technology officer has extensive experience in successfully integrating technology functions and will integrate the two businesses.

The acquisition will enable Made to increase its marketplace offering, and avoid some anticipated capital expenditure. It is set to spend between £13 and £18 million on the acquisition of Trouva and capital expenditure in 2022.

Made said that Trouva's choice of products will complement its existing design-led homeware.
