How new city development is rapidly taking shape - VIDEO

A former Gloucester city centre eyesore is rapidly being transformed into new homes.

Punchline was given a tour of the impressive new development on the former Kwik Save supermarket site off of Black Dog Way.

Subject to final approval, the scheme will include 95 affordable flats with 14 flats for vulnerable people with learning difficulties. The developer is Rooftop Housing Group with United Living the contractor.

Site manager Ron Jones explained the challenges of moving materials onto a confined city centre site. But Punchline was impressed by the efficient way this is being carried out and the high health and safety standards displayed on the site.

The 30 strong workforce includes local people and Smiths (Gloucester) and Gloucester-based Speedy Skips are involved in the prestigious project.
