Gloucester firm named Best Sports Nutrition Company in Europe

The supplement specialists were awarded top gong in the European Specialists Sports Nutrition Alliance Awards (ESSNA), alongside clinching the 'Best Protein Bar' category.

Announced in a virtual ceremony on December 9, leading minds and brands in the realm of sports nutrition across Europe attended, with Nutrition X not only scooping the 'Best Sports Nutrition Company' award, but the top spot in the 'Best Protein Bar' category for its Pro X protein bar, too.

Judges praised Nutrition X's rapid growth and unwavering dedication to clean, safe sport across its full range for reasons behind the win, with every Nutrition X supplement batch-tested and Informed-Sport accredited. This means that every supplement has been rigorously tested for substances listed on the World Anti-Doping Agency's banned substance list, giving professional athletes the peace of mind they need that what they're taking is both safe and within the regulations of competition.

The double win marks what is said to have been a hugely successful year for the brand, with Gloucester-raised entrepreneur James Markey at the helm.

In the past 12 months alone, the company has doubled its turnover, with forecasts pointing to the same trajectory of growth for 2022. The next three months will also see the company open its first presence in Europe with an Ireland-based office and distribution point, as well as the launch of its first-ever distributor partnership in the UAE.

Formulated with elite athletes in mind, Nutrition X supplies its products to 45+ top level clubs across Premiership rugby union, Premiership football, First-Class cricket and more. Partners include Scotland Rugby, The English Institute of Sport, Malmo FF, Bath Rugby, St Helens, Hintsa and the FSI, with 5 out of 12 English Rugby Union Premiership clubs officially using Nutrition X products.

James Markey, managing director of Nutrition X, said: "It goes without saying that we were completely blown away to have received such an accolade, particularly when looking at the calibre of those we were pitted against across Europe.

"The win is testament to the incredible work of our team over the past few years, working unwaveringly on the consistent development of our product range and high standards of customer service, which has undoubtedly been at the forefront of the solid reputation we've established with top-level clubs across the country and, indeed, internationally.

"Our trajectory for growth shows no signs of slowing down and with so many exciting developments over the coming year, including the opening of our first European office and even further new additions to our ever-growing product range, we're sure that 2022 is set to be every bit as fruitful for us as a company as 2021."
