By David Wood | 8th May 2024
Oscar Wenman-Hyde and Joshy Lee, two local filmmakers, are at the helm of the first ever Gloucester Independent Film Festival.
The innovative new event takes place at Gloucester Guildhall on Saturday October 5 and aims to attract local and international film makers for red carpet premieres and networking opportunities.
In addition to this, the event aims to provide beneficial career progression for those looking to work within the independent film industry and beyond.
"Gloucester has a vast history of high end film and television productions taking place in the area. This includes Harry Potter, Star Wars and Doctor Who.
"However, we know first hand the amount of local talent that inhabits this city and we plan to highlight and celebrate the creatives in our community," said Oscar Wenman-Hyde.
Also, Joshy Lee, the director behind Gloucester-based film Boy in the Corner, knows first hand the importance of supporting local film makers and he hopes to help guide the next generation towards success.
Over the coming months, film makers from Gloucester and the rest of the world can submit their film or screenplay by visiting www.gloucesterfilmfestival.com for consideration.
The curators of GIFF encourage the community to roll camera, connect and engage with the magic of the movies!
