Bellway completes 465-home development at Churchdown

Work at Bellway's Pirton Fields development is now complete, as part of the housebuilder's commitment to bring more than 950 new homes to Gloucestershire across four developments.

Bellway has built 465 homes at Pirton Fields in the village of Churchdown, on the A40 between Gloucester and Cheltenham, under both its Bellway and Ashberry Homes brands.

Work is now progressing on a further 492 homes across three developments: in Hunts Grove and Hempsted on the edge of Gloucester, and in Lydney in the Forest of Dean.

Daniel Shone, Bellway head of sales, said: "Pirton Fields has been a popular development, creating a new community of private and affordable homes within this sought-after area.

"It not only provided high-quality contemporary homes but also created jobs and contributed an immense investment in schools locally. Bellway has made a £5 million contribution to education as part of a total £5.7 million paid towards infrastructure as part of the planning agreement for the project.

"Bellway has a strong commitment to Gloucestershire and to providing the high-quality homes that people need and want. This is demonstrated by the three new developments that are currently being built following investment in more land.

"We are looking to enhance this commitment to meeting housing need and supporting employment and services in the county by seeking even more new land. Then, we can create contemporary sustainable neighbourhoods where people will enjoy living."

Figures from the Home Builders Federation, known as HBF, estimate that building 950 homes would support the employment of 3,301 people and provide 40 apprentices, graduates and trainees.

At Pirton Fields, there are 368 homes which were built under the Bellway brand, including 131 affordable homes, while at the Ashberry Homes part of the project there are 97 properties including 32 affordable homes. All the homes are now occupied.

The new Bellway developments currently being built in Gloucestershire are:

Hawthorn Park, in Hempsted. Bellway is building 185 new properties here including 37 affordable homes.

Blackthorn Walk, in Hunts Grove. Bellway is building 107 new homes here - a mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses all with solar panels.

Forest Walk, in Lydney. Bellway is building 200 homes, including 30 affordable homes, as part of a wider 320-home project to the west of the A48 Lydney bypass.
