Cotswolds gets its own Monopoly board

A new official version of Monopoly has been released this week, featuring well-known Cotswolds landmarks.

The Cotswolds edition, released on April 6, includes locations such as Sudeley Castle, Broadway Tower and Malmesbury Abbey.

Differing from the classic edition, the racing car playing piece has also been swapped for a tractor as voted for by the public.

On the board, the highest ranked square 'Mayfair' has been replaced by Broadway Tower, and 'Park Lane' with Sudeley Castle.

Other changes include Bourton Model Village for 'Pentonville Road', Jeremy Clarkson's Diddly Squat Farm Shop for 'Vine Street', Tewkesbury Abbey for 'Whitechapel Road' and Malmesbury Abbey for 'Old Kent Road'.

In the early stages of design for the new edition, the public were invited to send nominations to the creators for tokens, landmarks and organisations to feature in the game.

Ella Gibbs, custom games executive at Winning Moves UK, who are producing the game under licensing from Hasbro, said: "We would like to formally thank each and every person who sent in nominations.

"The tractor was the most popular suggestion, followed by the sheep and campervan."

Local organisations and businesses also appearing on the board include Winstons Wish, Little Soap Company, The Cotswolds Distillery, Cotswold Airport, Giffords Circus and Cotswold Dogs & Cats Home.
