160-plus new homes planned for Brockworth

Plans have been revealed to create a new housing development next to Tesco Extra at Gloucester Business Park.

Welsh housebuilder Edenstone Homes want to build 167 properties on the former brownfield site adjacent to Hucclecote Road, which was previously part of Brockworth Airfield.

The proposal claims to fit the county's Joint Core Strategy, which outlines the need for new homes across the region.

The new development, submitted to Tewkesbury Borough Council, is for one-bed apartments to four-bed houses.

This includes 67 affordable homes and 163 square metres of space for flexible commercial/community uses.

The 3.44-hectare site links the existing residential communities of Brockworth and Hucclecote and Gloucester Business Park to the south.

The application states that "parking courtyards with some car ports and hard/soft landscape characteristics will remove car domination off the main streets." However, several comments from members of the public on Hucclecote Parish Council's Facebook page ask whether the planned parking and existing infrastructure is enough to support the development.

Hucclecote Parish Council said: "This development will have a big impact on Hucclecote, bringing 300-400 additional people to the area"

A decision is expected on the application later this year.
