Wickes sales on target

Wickes expects full-year profits to come in at the top end of its forecast.

The home improvement retailer, which has stores in Gloucester, Cheltenham and Cirencester, reported a 0.3% fall in like-for-like sales in the 52 weeks to December 30, as reported by Retail Gazette.

Sales for the core business, which includes both trade and retail customers, rose 0.1% for the year, with a 1.4% rise in the last 13 weeks of the year.

Like-for-like sales in its consultancy division - Do-It-For-Me (DIFM) - fell by 1.7%.

As a result, Wickes expects pre-tax profit to be at the upper end of the range of £44.9m to £48.3m.

It said it has delivered 'record customer satisfaction and market share' against a challenging backdrop and believes it is in a good position to outperform the market in the future.
