Tewkesbury woman admits shoplifting

A Tewkesbury woman has been remanded in custody after she admitted to shoplifting offences and breaching her Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

Victoria Grimmett, aged 32 and of Court Farm Close in Pamington, appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on Monday (February 12) after she was arrested and charged the previous day with the offences.

She admitted to three breaches of her CBO and four shoplifting offences.

Grimmett was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced at Gloucester Crown Court on March 11.

Between September 11, 2023, and February 1, 2024, she stole from shops including Holland & Barrett and Tesco in Tewkesbury. In one theft she stole more than £700 worth of sports supplements.

Grimmett was handed a three-year CBO in June last year banning her from retail premises in Gloucestershire, with two exceptions, due to repeated shoplifting offences.

Sergeant Lucy Winterburn, from the Tewkesbury neighbourhood policing team, said: "As a team we take retail crime and supporting our retail premises seriously, and we're dedicated to tackling and reducing this type of crime.

"We are using CBOs and other tools to help manage persistent offenders within our community and the court often hands out custodial sentences for breaches of these orders."
