Tesla fined for failure to notify police who was driving during traffic offence

Electric car company Tesla's financial services division has been ordered to pay penalties totalling £1,353 by Cheltenham Magistrates for failing to notify Gloucestershire Police who was driving one of its electric cars at the time of an alleged traffic offence in Gloucestershire.

The court was told that Tesla Financial Services Ltd of Horton Road, West Drayton, Middlesex, were required to inform the county Constabulary between police between June 6, and July 5, 2023, of the identity of the driver but failed to do so.

Magistrates found the case proved under the Single Justice Procedure and fined the company £999 plus costs of £90 and a £264 victim services surcharge.
