Strong Christmas for card retailer

Card Factory predicts pre-tax profits will be at the top end of expectations after strong Christmas trading.

The retailer, which has stores in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Stroud and Tewkesbury, saw like-for-like store sales rise by 7.8% in November and December.

Card Factory also saw double-digit like-for-like online sales growth in November and December.

Overall, sales for the 11 months to December 31 were up 10.2% to £476.9m.

As a result, the business said its adjusted pre-tax profits would be at the top of market expectations of £58.4m to £62m.
