ScS ploughs £57m into store upgrades

The new owner of ScS will complete its £57m refurbishment programme next month.

Poltronesofà which acquired the furniture specialist in January last year, has been overhauling the business, including its 96 UK stores.

The refurbishment programme is based on the style of the group's 310 European stores.

ScS has a store in Gloucester, while its Cheltenham store is described online as 'temporarily closed'.

As port of the transformation of the business, ScS has also had its sofa collection revamped - with its new 'any sofa, any fabric' policy giving customers more than 250,000 choices.

Poltronesofà said the product and store overhaul includes a strategic focus on the core sofa business, withdrawing from flooring and dining products a year ago.

It said the 60 ScS stores which have already been upgraded have seen a significant increase in sales.

The business is seeing a return to orders growth in the current year at its refurbished stores and expects to return to profit in 2026.
