Majestic toasts record Christmas

Majestic toasted its best ever Christmas, after a big rise in sales.

The wine retailer, which has stores in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Stroud and Cirencester, saw sales rise 8.1% in the eight weeks to Christmas day.

And it saw its biggest-ever trading day on Friday December 22.

Majestic said its performance over the key trading quarter was boosted by a 13.4% increase in fine wine sales, as shoppers traded up for the festive period.

The retailer also reported strong sales growth in its Majestic Commercial B2B division, which delivered to 2,300 bars, pubs, restaurants and venues across the UK.
