Officers arrest three men and uncover cannabis farm in Cheltenham

Officers arrested three males and uncovered a cannabis farm containing tens of thousands of pounds worth of plants after a report of an attempted break-in during the early hours in Cheltenham.

Police were called shortly before 3.20am on Thursday (April 18) after two males were seen trying to break into a car and then running away along the side of a property on Stanway Road.

Officers attended immediately and within five minutes arrested two youths who were fleeing the area.

Several discarded machetes were found nearby, as well as indications that attempts had been made to break into a house on the road.

A man was then spotted on the roof of the property so officers immediately cordoned off the area for everyone's safety.

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service attended and helped bring the man to safety before he was also arrested.

Inside the house, around 100 tall cannabis plants, estimated to be worth tens of thousands of pounds in total, were discovered and have been seized by police this morning.

A 15-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of vehicle interference, attempted burglary and possession of class B drugs, a 17-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of vehicle interference and attempted burglary and a 26-year-old man arrested on suspicion of drugs manufacture remain in police custody at this time. All are from London.

Officers would like to thank the public for their assistance during the incident and subsequent disruption this morning.

Anyone who has not yet spoken to officers and has any information is asked to provide this by completing the online form and quoting incident 31 of April 18.
