Easy does it! Forum bridge lifted into place

A significant milestone in Gloucester city centre's transformation took place yesterday (Thursday).

Cranes lifted The Forum's 44-tonne connecting bridge into position after it had been given a special police escort through the city.

The bridge, which is 18.5m in length, links two Forum buildings, the 4-star Indigo Hotel, offices and multi-storey car park on Plot 2, with the offices and gym space on Plot 4.

Police escorted the abnormal load on its journey to Market Parade from St Albans Road in Linden, along Bristol Road and the A430.

Operators used a crane to lift it into place on Thursday evening.

The £107m Forum project is part of the £200m Kings Quarter regeneration being delivered by Gloucester City Council with Reef Group and the University of Gloucestershire at the heart of Gloucester City Centre.

Kier Construction is the main construction team on site, with Novum providing engineering and design support to ensure the bridge is built to the highest design and safety standards.
