Double-decker bus crashes into telegraph pole

A double decker bus crashed into a telegraph pole after the driver had a suspected "medical episode", police said.

Emergency services were called to Bristol Road in Quedgeley after the bus left the road at about 12.30pm yesterday (Monday).

Paramedics and police attended the scene near Aldi, with the county air ambulance landing in a nearby park.

The bus crashed into a garden, flattening a tree, with a local smashing the door of the bus open with a hammer to let passengers out.

The driver was taken to hospital but no other injuries were reported.

The windscreen of the bus was smashed and motorists were asked to avoid the area while the vehicle was recovered.
