VIDEO: Charity celebrates 25th anniversary with networking lunch

Gloucestershire-based blood cancer charity Linc  had plenty to celebrate yesterday.

The charity held a networking lunch at Prithvi Indian restaurant in Cheltenham as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations and to mark the launch of Linc's new website and new branding.

Punchline-Gloucester.com editor Mark Owen was among about 40 guests who enjoyed a delicious lunch, and chatted to Lou Neal, Linc's new CEO.

Lou said: "The new website has literally gone online today. We are so excited. This is our new chapter and we are just incredibly proud of our new brand.

"We wanted it to be bold and to show our story and tell people what we do in supporting blood cancer patients and their families across the region."

Linc supports blood cancer patients and their families across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and South Worcestershire.

Lous added: "We work with businesses, we work with individuals and schools to raise money and every penny goes to supporting blood cancer patients and their families. We rely entirely on donations."

Upcoming fundraising events include a golf day on July 12.

Linc is committed to delivering information, reassurance and support through a wide range of means.

The charity has two hubs at the Linc Outpatients Centre in Cheltenham General Hospital and the Edward Jenner Unit at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

Jay Rahman, co-owner of JM Socials, which owns Prithvi and six other Cheltenham restaurants, said the business started about 12 years ago and has continued to grow.

It currently employs nearly 100 people over its seven restaurants in Cheltenham and two in Oxford and has a total turnover of between £8 million and £10 million.

Jay said: "Since we first started Linc has always been approachable to us wanting to support the restaurant and over the last 12 years we've been supporting Linc through networking events and raising small amounts of money through all our restaurants. Every quarter we deliver a lump sum to Linc as a thank you for everything they do."
