Big rise in sales for Wetherspoon’s

Pub chain, JD Wetherspoon, saw a big rise in sales over Christmas.
Wetherspoon's like-for-like sales were up 11.1% year-on-year for the last three months, taking revenue growth for the second half of the year to 10%, as reported by This Is Money.
In December, the chain, which has pubs in Gloucester, Cheltenham, Stroud and Tewkesbury, saw like-for-like sales increase by 15.2%, compared to growth of 8.8% for the industry as a whole.
This meant Wetherspoon's has outperformed the rest of the pub sector for 16 consecutive months, according to the Coffer CGA Business Tracker.
For the 25 weeks to January 21, bar sales rose by 11.8%, food sales were up 7.9% and slot and fruit machine takings increased by 10.4%, while hotel room sales were up by 3.1%.
Wetherspoon's currently has 814 pubs.
