Aldi predicts record-breaking Christmas

Discount supermarket, Aldi, has forecast a record-breaking festive season this year.

The retailer predicts more UK households will shop there than ever, as a result of the continuing cost-of-living crisis.

It has even gone a step further and forecast that more than half of us will eat at least one Aldi product this Christmas, as reported by Retail Gazette.

Aldi said that customers are shopping earlier and treating themselves in the run-up to the big day.

It has also found that more families are opting for something other than turkey for their Christmas dinner - with a rise in sales of beef, gammon and vegan alternatives.

The retailer expects to sell more than 1,400 tonnes of sprouts and 43 million pigs in blankets in the next couple of weeks.

Aldi has invested £12m in its Christmas Price Lock scheme, cutting the prices of festive essentials and helping maintain the price gap between Aldi and the traditional supermarkets.
