Following the success of the first Canal Spring Festival this year, plans are in hand to make next year's event even better.

If communities around the canal in Stonehouse rally round, they will help make the festival a success for years to come.

Everyone is welcome to attend a meeting tomorrow (Tuesday, October 17th) where initial plans for the festival will be shared. Visitors can also have their say too.

Chris Mitford-Slade, Cotswold Canals Connected project director, said: "We want the Stonehouse community to take ownership of this event, so they can create an event they truly want.

"We are really excited to be holding this event again next year, and hope to see even more people get involved.

"This initial planning meeting will provide a chance for people to find out more and register interest in volunteer roles we are recruiting for."

Volunteers can sign up to manage geographical areas and specific aspects of the event. Areas include Boakes Drive, St Cyr's Church, Church Road, Stonehouse Court Hotel, canalside and on the canal, and the former Ship Inn site.

Volunteers are also needed to lead on aspects such as sponsorship, fundraising and collections, social media, website, marketing and graphic design, volunteer coordination, health and safety, programming, partner organisations, accessibility, traffic management and parking, infrastructure, event feedback and lost children.
