The Holst Birthplace Museum is rebranding

The Holst Birthplace Museum in Cheltenham becomes 'Holst Victorian House' on 10 September.

Curator Laura Kinnear said: "We remain the house in which British composer Gustav Holst was born in 1874; where you can hear more about his life and view some personal items, including a piano on which he composed The Planets.

"However, our Museum is also unique in being the only period house in Cheltenham open to the public.

"In Holst Victorian House we explore the lives of some of the inhabitants, including Holst's parents, both in Victorian and more modern times. The house is a time capsule of 19th century life with a working Victorian kitchen, Victorian bedroom, scullery and nursery."

The museum hosts a range of exhibitions, events and children's activities throughout the year, including its popular 'Bake Back in Time' events using the working coal-fired range.

Laura added: "We look forward to welcoming new and returning visitors to 4 Clarence Road and sharing with them the experience of living in a Victorian home."
